BIOGRAPHY
Lyric Bass Trevor Eliot Bowes was born in Victoria, Canada and studied at the University of Toronto and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland before being selected as one of Barbara Hannigan's Equilibrium Young Artists. Based in the UK, Trevor has appeared with English National Opera, The Royal Opera House, English Touring Opera, Opera North, Opera Holland Park, Glyndebourne, Nevill Holt Opera, Grange Park Opera, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Royal Northern Sinfonia, and London Handel Festival. His international appearances have included the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Valletta Baroque Festival, Le Parlement de Musique and Early Music Russia.

Recent highlights include Don Basilio / Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Longborough Festival Opera, Bartolo / Le Nozze di Figaro with The Mozartists, Colline / La Boheme and Seneca / L'Incoronazione di Poppea with English Touring Opera, Alidoro / La Cenerentola with Nevill Holt Opera, Mozart's Requiem with The Hallé, Sergeant of Police / The Pirates of Penzance with Opera Holland Park, Polifemo / Handel's Aci, Galatea e Polifemo for the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and understudying his first Wagner role, Hunding in Die Walkure at English National Opera.
Trevor has frequently performed at English National Opera, notably as Ben Benny in Paul Bunyan, Jose Castro in The Girl of the Golden West, and Benoit in their Drive-in La Boheme, which was broadcast live on SKY Arts. He returned to ENO in the 2024-25 season as Antonio in The Marriage of Figaro. At Opera North, he has played Talbot in Maria Stuarda opposite Sarah Connolly, and the Drum-maker in Jonathan Dove’s The Adventures of Pinocchio. He has also performed roles at Glyndebourne, Grange Park Opera, Opera Holland Park, New Chamber Opera and West Green House Opera. In 2019 he made his German debut with the Munich Philharmonic as Father Trulove and Mother Goose in The Rake's Progress conducted by Barbara Hannigan. That same year he made a remarkable debut at the ROH Linbury Theatre by stepping into the role of Odin in Monstrous Child (Gavin Higgins & Francesca Simon) with less than 24 hours notice. Trevor also appears on the Naxos recording of Balfe’s Satanella as Arimanes, conducted by Richard Bonynge.

A seasoned concert artist, Trevor has appeared singing Messiah (London Handel Festival), Mozart's Requiem (Toronto Symphony Orchestra with Sir Andrew Davis), Aci, Galatea e Polifemo (Valletta Baroque Festival) Purcell Odes (OAE and Laurence Cummings) Bach Cantatas under Helmuth Rilling in Toronto and Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on Christmas Carols with ENO and Martyn Brabbins. Further oratorio appearances have also included Verdi's Requiem, Elgar's Dream of Gerontius, Rachmaninoff's The Bells, Haydn's The Creation, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Dvorak's Stabat Mater, and Bach's Passions.

In the 2025-26 season, Trevor returns to ENO as Dick Deadeye in Cal McCrystal's acclaimed production of HMS Pinafore. He will appear as Collatinus / The Rape of Lucretia with English Touring Opera, Basilio / Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Lyric Opera Ireland at the Grand Opera House, Belfast, and Argenio / Imeneo with the Cambridge Handel Opera Company. He will also sing Brahms' Vier Ernste Gesaenge (Detlev Glanert's orchestration) with the Bridgewater Sinfonia. International appearances will include Handel's Dixit Dominus with Les Musiciens du Louvre in Paris, Madrid and Auvers-sur-Oise, as well as his Swedish debut at the historic Drottningholms Slottsteater.
